American Picker's Van

I made a few of these and decide to keep one for my layout, even if it isn’t within my timeframe (mid 1960’s).

Neat van! I like the TV show too.

Nice. Just need Mike and Frank figures…oh and maybe a Dani D too.

I saw the actual van in my town while I was pumping gas. That was nearly two years ago.

Just get a CMW or Sylvan Scale panel truck and put the decal on that; it will cure the time warp problem - those guys probaly were doing the same thing back then…

Good idea, why didn’t I think of that. I’ve got a 1960’s Dodge van that could fill in for now.

Bob, I respect faithfulness to layout time period, but hey, that’s fun and cool having Frank and Mike cruising your layout looking for that “Rusty gold”.

My son, who was about 12 years old at the time and I visited a super nice club layout in Walnut Creek during the “Ghost Busters” era. There in the middle of their superbly modeled city scene was a giant “Staypuft” man, what a hoot and the visitors loved it! My son was certainly inspired, we had a small layout at the time and one day when I came home from work I was amused to see his giant rubber “Godzilla” who had been sawed in half emerging from the middle of the Envirotex lake.

Hmm, my son has his own family now, but I think the ol’ half “Godzilla” might still be around.

Thanks, Happy Monday and regards, Peter

Now here’s a happy ending to this story; I listed one of these vans on Ebay and sold it last night to…drum roll…Antique Archaeology store in LeClaire,Iowa…the real store! What a surprise and honor to have them purchase my model of their van (well the old van now?). Hope they weren’t trying to collect evidence for a law suit?[:$]

What? No kidding, wow thats pretty cool. You should call the store and talk to Dani D. I bet she’s the one who bid on it. Crazy they found it.
