I’m thinking of using this for the roads and sidewalks on my layout, but ther’s something I don’t understand. If it’s used for both, then the roads and sidewalks will both be the same hieght. And, that doesn’t look right. In the picture of a street & sidewalk that were made using it; that’s on the AMI website; they’re NOT the same hieght. HUH??
Maybe they used two layers to raise the sidewalk height above that of the street.
Other roadbed materials are more or less resiliant. They will bend or deform to a certain point and then return to their former shape or height if the the deforming force is removed. Consider a rubber band as an example. Ami Roadbed is plastic and will not return to its original state under these same conditions. Consider it to be more like putty or uncured calk. The roadbed can either be double layered or spread out to acheive the desired thickness.
You can get a difference using “N”, HO and O gauge since they are different. The WS foam in “N” is good for sidings of the HO.
