How much does or did Amtrak mix Superliner II, Superliner I, Amfleet, Viewliner and heritage cars in their western trains? If you know of examples or sites with consist it would be appreciated.
It is quite rare to see anything other than Superliner I and II plus the former AT&SF highlevel used on a western train, except of course a baggage car. In the past Amtrak would use a heritage baggage-dorm or sleeper used as crew dormitory, but not in the last few years. You will occasionally see another car type moved at the end of a Superliner train, but it is closed and locked out of service, or they will be Private cars.
