[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]Dave Gunn said he is looking into adding a 4th Sunset Limited some time this year but he said he one of these days wants it to go daily as soon as enough cars are out. Instead of a Daily Sunset Limited I’d rather see a daily Desert Wind or a tri weekly Pionner/Desert Wind Combo. I’ve got an Idea extend the Texas Eagle or the City of New Orelans to LA and add the Pioneer and Desert Wind and extend the Zeypher to LA.
Oh Yes this will make West Coast People happy the HORIZONS ARE BACK they will run on the Train to San Luis Obisbo also Sleeper 32005 has came back on line it had some EVAC issiues[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Hadn’t heard, but in the words of Graham Claytor, “Tri-weekly service is no service at all”.
I would be interesting to see what would happen to the numbers if that train went to daily.
Many people here in Tampa (yes, besides me) would like the Silver Meteor and Silver Star to return instead of forcing people to catch a bus to Orlando to connect with those two trains.
We have one direct train left, the Palmetto, but the crowds and consumer inquiries indicate that people want the pre1990 service that we had before.
Re: triweekly service. It would also be interesting to see what would happen if 50/51 operated every day.
However, it all boils down to the “same old same old”: insufficient/ unreliable funding adds up to equipment shortages and prevents any chance of making coherent plans to improve/expand/correct the existing system. IOW, you can’t add trains to improve service if you don’t have the cars to do it.
A GAO report on the NE Corridor says much the same thing I am here; especially in terms of infrastructure problems which, in many ways. keep the Acelea from reaching its full potential.
