Hello,
So, one thing that I want to model other than my railroad is rainbow-era Amtrak (the best Amtrak). I’ve been wanting to slap together an E or F unit in the good ol’ Phase I scheme, which is my favorite. But, I can’t seem to pinpoint the exact red used on the nose, so does anybody know a good red to use?
Hi Jet Clipper,
Amtrak’s Phase 1 Scheme was the very first scheme used by the railroad, it looked like this;
and there’s this one with a lighter shade of red;
Amtrak used this Scheme from 1971 until about 1979 or 1980. So F7’s or E8’s are correct for a rainbow train that was common during the early years.
If you model Amtrak in 1973, You can use SDP40F’s in the “Arrow Scheme” to pull your train.
