Mel & Mo, I have long said “Please don’t feed the troll.” Now I add to it, “Please don’t troll the troll.”

But since the Silly Guse has already honked, I ask him where in the Constitution it says there should be fire departments paid for by taxes. Or air traffic control. If you’re lucky, you will never need the services of your local FD, but you pay taxes for it anyway. I haven’t been in a plane since about 1981, but my taxes go to the FAA. It all comes under the heading of “promote the general welfare.”

Thank you for pointing out the concept of a troll. Apparently a troll is anybody who disagrees with socialists and big government. Is that how it works? Again, I challenge you. Show me where in the Constitution, Amtrak, or any other mode of transportation is to be used by government to move people, outside of the military. I am not against passenger trains. Only those run illegally by socialist government because I am forced to finance that which offers zero benefit to me, which is the definition of redistribution of wealth, which is a cornerstone of socialism. Passenger trains should be owned and operated by the private sector. Let those who want to invest in it take the hit when it loses money. Conversely, they will be rewarded if they can figure out how to make it work. Or is all of this way over your head? As always, the socialists in the room are easy to find. The first thing they do is trample over the First Amendment whenever speech is anti-socialist. Then they trample over the remainder of the highest law, the Constitution.

Just goes to show there is a need for additional service during the holiday travel periods. Unfortunately, there are a few trolls, particularly the ONE from Illinois won’t see that.

Please don’t forget about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or the Federal Railway Administration. Or how about that catch all phrase "provide for the common good " Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would point out that one of the reasons for the federation that is our government is to provide for the free flow of people and goods. (Also to provide for freedom of expression). In the area of moving people when you have sufficient mass rail makes sense. As it provides an ability to move things and people at a fraction of the cost of highways or air. It also takes a large investment of resources that many time can be justified with private capital. But when you are spending public dollars it will make sense.

David, I just love to read all this flatulence this foul fowl emits. It’s comic relief.

Mr. Guse. If you have something to say that constructively contributes to the discussion of railroads, great - please say it. Otherwise, please knock off your reflexive political diatribes. Even their entertainment value is waning. Taking your anti-socialist “logic” to its optimal extent, we’d have no interstate highways and then you’d have to park your truck.

Michigan is way past due for more regular service on its Wolverine corridor. The least they can do is add a frequency on the weekends for starters. This same corridor ought to have the Lake Shore rerouted its way so a night option is available between Chicago and Detroit.
