Amtrak Train 43's Accident Thursday

Amtrak train 43 left Chicago night thinking they would make a safe trip. Well, they were wrong. It his a gravel truck at Clark Road outside of Chicago around 9pm I’m guessing. I was in Porter when it happened. I heard it over the scanner after trains started to back up. Saw an Amtrak train coming off the Michigan line, walked over to see what the power was, it was AMT 90200 leading with a P42 on the back. The engineer came out and talked with us for a short while saying it was a pretty bad mess and the line will be blocked for some time. NS trains were stopped from Chesterton to Otis, IN. We decided to call it a night knowing we weren’t gonna see any more trains for some time.
In the morning we headed back to our spot to watch more trains. While crossing the tracks, I noticed an Amtrak engine sitting in the siding. It was the same one involved in the accident. Couldn’t really get too close due to it was between two roads on railroad property. Didn’t want to get close so I used the zoom on the digital camera and took two shots. It was AMT 154 and AMT 142. 154 had its nose flattend. This shot is awaiting acception on Railpictures so check out my signature for photos. If not there, keep checking back or I will let everyone know when it uploads.

There are also six other pictures hoping to get accepted including former CR GP15-1, NS SD70M, UP C44AC(half-winged), line of CN GP9R’s, and BNSF 522 running light.

Here is the picture. Was rejected from Railpix due to not enough pixels.

Not able to access your site - say’s error 404

[#ditto] same here,same error # 404

Now what does the gravel truck look like.

Did not see the Amtrak engine however, the pic that does come up is interesting. It is a steam engine sitting on a bridge, errrr, well not sitting ON a bridge, kinda wedged between the bridge supports but missing part of the bridge. And believe it or not someone is in the cab. A very brave soul he is. [:0]

You’re right, Jim: the first time I looked at the link, I did not notice the man in the
engine!! Sure did, the second time, though. [angel]

came through as the busted up Amtrak locomotive for me…

I wonder why the link works sometimes and not other times [?]

That truck(besides the fact it is flattened) looks like(or Looked) an old military
5 ton.[:)]

The link won’t work for me.

[8]TrainFreak409[8]

Several of us have had problems with the first link tf409,the other two links are for ,
or from a different accident.[:)]

Just tried the link again - still have the steam loco across the bridge – coincidentally the loco number is the same as the error message 404!!!

That most likely was edited or used 4 that reason (404-404).

Locomutt [:)]

Have you noticed the “other” links have vanished from this thread?

Now who stole them? They are gone.

One of them showed the older Amtrak loco, and one was of an old red truck, and like Locomutt said, it looked like an old army truck.

Call the police. They pic links are gone. [:(!]

wow! youre right and i still cant get the orignal pic to work either.

WELL I’LL BE,uh something. They were there when I left last night,I don’t gott’um,
So no clue here.[?][:0]

Got Genesis #154 with a really wrinkled nose when I accessed the link the first time.

OK i searched around the railroad forums webpage and think I have found it. So let’s give this a try. This is of course wcfan4ever’s pici just found it.

Sorry I deleted the thread because people were confusing the link of the Heartland Flyer accident with Train 43 accident. Sorry about the confusion.
