Thanks for the info. I was only aware of Tortoise but I will look at thisin depth
Alan, thanks for info of the ANE004 slow motion turnout control. For a new railroader, it will help on my new layout I am building. I hope the price is not too high as the other unit out there. Thanks again .

I wonder how the how the cost compares to the Tortise?
Twenty seconds, yes!
If money is no option, this might well be adaptable to controlling a semaphore, some of which take 10 to 15 seconds to complete the motion.
Lets see the article!
Except for a ballpark price, this article was not only imformative, but really piqued my interest in this new switch system. I, for one, really appreciate the unbiased reader reviews- especially this one. Thanks, Alan.
What I am missing? Walthers offer the SmartSwitch for $140.00 but it is now on sale now for only $89.98! Is this really the cost to control only one switch??
Even at the sale price it would cost me over $1,000 to control th switches in my planned yard?!?
Well written article.
To clarify a few points.
To my knowledge, The only advertising in US has been carried out by the ANE factory in several publications. This could be why they are not so well known as yet.
This obviously is a problem because not all modellers read model publications and in this case ‘word of mouth’ is the only way that these people can learn of new products.
Any US pricing information can be obtained by a quick enquiry to ANE direct at www.anemodel.com
The A004 set mentioned in this review is the one with all of the bells and whistles and is therefore the most expensive.
The A001 is basically for anyone using DC only, but can be used also on a DCC layout however has to be operated by only local Toggle switching or Pushbutton. The set includes a motherboard, 4 x servos, 4 x mounting brackets, 4 x extension leads, mounting hardware (toggle switches, screws, spacers and control wire) and a very good manual.
The A002 set is as above but also includes 4 x SmartFrog units to switch the frog power.
The A003 is the same as the A001 but also includes a four function Stationary decoder that allows either DCC control of your turnouts or by switching to local pushbutton or toggle switch control.
The A004 is the same as A002 but includes the 4 x SmartFrogs.
They can be used for almost any animation on the layout, such as semaphore signals, opening gates (new product coming for controlling Crossing Gates) and I have seen them used for opening a roller garage door on an On30 layout.
Servos have been overlooked for many years and in this case, are totally silent, travel distance fully adjustable and also the speed has nine settings from 0.4 sec to 20 sec.
Lastly, they have outputs on the motherboard and also the SmartFrog for LED lighting.
You can pick up one of these sets and not have to go out to the shop to buy any other parts.
Any further information can also be
Thomas, The Walthers sale price is for the AN004 which is a set of four turnouts.
To those who have commented on the potential price in comparison to others, it will depend very much on what you buy as a set but at the sale price of Walthers for the AN004 I think you will find it beats other brands hands down.
Otherwise thanks for the feedback everyone
