I am using 3 #6 Kato switches controlled with NCE KAT DCC relays. I have about 5 sets of feeders. I was thinking on running wires out the bottom and attaching to bus wire at the front covered with PVC or something. The section at the end with bumper I was going to make it a program track as well using the NCE program REV 1 switch.
Any thoughts? [8-|]
There are probably better ways of doing it, but for a small layout your size there is no reason why it wouldn’t work the way you describe doing it.
I would hook all the feeders except for the ones for the programming track together onto a single bus. Then wire the front track through a DPDT that switches between the main bus and the programming outputs on your DCC system. Make sure that you have the polarity of the front track correct, and make sure that you have insulated joiners on BOTH RAILS just after the switch.
For a layout that small why don’t you just run all the feeders together and connect the power there? What purpose would a bus serve other than to be “trendy”? Its not like you need power 25-30 feet away.
I like your idea. For the programing track I will use the NCE auto switch for programing. I can do the same for the NCE KAT switches as well. Keep it Simple if you can is my motto![8D]
