Agreed. Kinda sorry to see that taking hostages is still regarded as a legit business practice on the internet.
I’ve ordered from KadeeTrains.com before and had no issues. Had great prices on the undecorated 40’ and 50’ Kadee cars I ordered - better prices than Kadee actual. Kind of sad to see them go.

It’s called cyber-squatting. It’s one of those quasi-legal behaviors the internet has inspired. Find a domain name that closely resembles an actual going concern’s and throw up a website. Make demands for payment to shut down the fake one, which obviously trades on the reputation of the real company.
Eventually, the hostage tires and asks, “How much, really?” just to get back to doing business without it being siphoned away by the fake or, worse, having the fake ruin your rep. Hopefully this one is honest enough to relinquish control as they say they will.
They seem to have gone to more than the usual trouble to set this thing up. With that much research, you’d think they’d figure out that they just didn’t accidentally choose Kadee out of the thin air, They intended to take advanatage of confused consumers and the reputation Kadee spent decades building.
I wonder if it was a Chinese company? If anyone got a package from them, the return address would have been on the label. I guess this is all a moot point now.
I know from experience and a few other people, there are Chinese companies, selling knock off items on ebay.
