I was looking for a 70-75 foot manual simple turntable for my HO scale Tonopah & greenwater RR and I found a Scale Structures SS LTD 70’-90’ Turntable Kit from the 1970’s on ebay. I am now the owner and it is being shipped to me. Has anyone built one of these turntables? What have I got myself into here? Anything to look out for or secrets of construction? I built some other SS LTD kits along time ago and they were very good for the time. Opinions? - Nevin
Nevin - I built one of these and used it for nearly 20 years. There were 2 things that were a bit troublesome - providing power with the correct polarity to the track and making sure the pit floor is level (if I remember right it calls for a poured plaster pit floor). Other than that it was all pretty much straightforward.
