anyone collect subways?????????????

I customize my own subway trains ,LETS SEE YOUR YOURS.[:D]…

Wow. What real looking paint job. BTW: when does a subway car sit long enough to get graffiti? Don’t think we have any subway folks. I know Doug M does trollies.

I love what CCriders does to his subways. I’m into the trolley side of transit though I have my eye on the CTA 6800s.

Thanx Chief and Cnw, Subways usto look like this in the 1980s which is the era i model. The trains would be parked at the train yard for hours and at times overnight…

Along with the main yards there are a lot of pockets/mini yards (holding areas off the main line) where “local” trains were sometimes held during non peak hours. The IND 8th avenue has one between 168th and 175th and there is a yard on the IRT Broadway line at 137th.

Your photo does bring back memories. Nice job.

Today’s NYC Subway cars are stainless with very little ‘painted’ artistic stuff BUT a relatively “new” wave of vandals have scratched the metal and etched their work into the glass windows.

P.S. It cost an awful lot of $ to clean the trains up. (Worth every cent, just my [2c])

Those trains look great! Could we see some more of your collection? Are these motorized? What kind of layout?

Let’s see I had a BMT the other day, a spicy Italian yesterday… and today I will have the meatball special… Oh… Doh! Subway cars… very nice models. Can’t say I have any but how about if I sent you few 60 ft box cars that could use some graffiti? Keep up the good work.

Thanx J and RUNTIME, I have a youtube channel where you can see more of my customs,I tried to place the link on my signature as others do that here, but for some reason it doesent work???[:(…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYwFqAogPv4

Just wondering: Do you know if anyone makes subway cars with automatic doors that you can open and close when the train stops at a station?

I dont collect subways, but I had to get the MTH Lo V set because I remember riding these cars when I was little and looking out the front windows. I just wish that they had included a station announcement for Yankee Stadium (maybe that would have been a licensing issue). They look & run great even if they dont “fit” in a railroad setting. I recommend a visit to the NYC Transit Museum to any subway fans.

Yes lionel is comming out with a r-27 that has electric doors. But they are dragging their feet in producing it.

CCrider: Thanks, I’ll be watching.
