It can be intimidating to look at others work some times, but I try to view it as inspiring instead. It seems that when I view something as intimidating it tends to make me want to pull back from something, but when I view it as inspiring it drives me ahead to do and try things that I might not have before. Sometimes it works out good, other times,…well,…I try to learn from those times and do it better the next time.
There are aspects of this hobby that are intimidating but I have found that once you do a few weathering jobs, you’ll find it is one of the easiest things to do and do well. After decades in the hobby, I just recently began using chalk powders to weather and was amazed how easy it was to get excellent results. The great thing about it is if you don’t like the way it looks, add more or brush it off and try again.
Yeah, the chalks are where I’m planning to start. Time is actually my biggest factor, not intimidation. (If you knew the way I work “at work”, you’d know I’m not scared of getting in over my head, figuring it’s the best way to learn to swim… [:D])
