Anyone have a con cor pioneer zephyr

my friend at the hobby shop told me about em and i was wondering if any of you have one, they sound cool.

I’ve got one. I have been very happy with it.

I have one also, running well.

If you get one and want sound in it, I developed a soundfile that can be put in a Loksound decoder. It has the original type chime and bell and the sound of the Winton engine.

The PZ is a very smooth runner. I added the fourth car, which makes it “look” right. It seems a bit short with just the three units. I’ve also added passengers to the cars. This makes it look more “alive”.

Hal, that sound file “sounds” tempting. I’ve been thinking sound would make the PZ even better.

You can get the soundfile from the Loksound Yahoo files area, but need a programmer. Or you can buy a Loksound from Tony’s and he’ll install the file free. The 3-note chime and bell are very different from the usual; listen to the original “Silver Streak”.

ESU sells a new small rectangular speaker (16x25?) which exactly fits the PZ , requiring only slight enlargement of the mounting holes. They were not yet in US stock a few months back.

I was at my LHS and got to see one running as it was demo’d for a customer. I thought it really was a pretty neat model. I liked the interior lighting of the cars.

Will this train run on 18-inch radius curves? It doesn’t really fit my layout’s theme, but I’m always curious about these things.
