Anyone here model Nn3?

Hi. For a novice who is imagining an Nn3 layout, are there any suggestions?

Also, how many people here model Nn3?

And lastly, the room I have is barely 2x4. (I’m a New Yorker, go figure.)

And also, my signature that says I model an HO 4x10 layout is not in this apartment. I barely get to see it, so I was hoping for one at home.

I strongly considered it at one point not so long ago, but I stayed in regular N scale. I have a lot of links to info though on my work computer (don’t ask) that I could pass on if you’d like.

You might try asking this on a few dedicated N scale forums too. Here’s a couple that I know about:

Nn3 for a novice is a bit like encouraging a beginner drummer to play Neil Peart solos. You’re probably better off sticking to an N scale 2x4: you really don’t get that much more track in Nn3, there is almost no available rolling stock or motive power (it’s pretty much all kitbashed or scratchbuilt from Z scale mechanisms) and you can choose from a much broader array of prototypes. 2x4 feet is enough room for a doozy of a shelf switcher in N.

Oh I don’t know about that. You’ll be limited if you don’t scratchbuild, but there’s enough out there that you could have a lot of fun before that became an issue.

And theres always Ebay!

Also, if you’re modeling a narrow gauge line in the northeast this may help.
