Anyone Modeling the 1920s?

Just wondering if any of you are modeling the 1920s era? I am interested in that time, and am thinking of modeling my favorites in a imaginary large city called Spring Forge. I am thinking of Modeling the Mack truck Manufacturing Plant. I am leaning toward the railroads of my home town, though(York,PA) Pennsy,Western Maryland and MA&PA.

I am also interested in Auto Racing of that time, which was an era when the cars raced on large Board track speedways. I am thinking of trying to model a portion of one of the board speedways and have a passenger station adjacent to the Speedway.

Anyway if you model the twenties,I d like to see photos of what you are up to.

I’ve made my layout dual-era, so I can change between the 1960s and the 1930s by swapping out the trains and autos. I’ve got plans for a couple of structure swaps as well. Most of my structures, though, would be at home in either era.

I chose the 1930s based on availability of models, both trains and automobiles. I think the autos are the thing which best places a layout in a particular era. They change more rapidly than trains, and in many cases they’re more distinctive. Jordan, in particular, makes a number of cars and trucks which fit right into my layout.

Walthers came out with these high-wheel Mather boxcars a couple of years back:

They are really nice models, with good detail, and the brake wheel gives them away as pre-WW2 trains. I’ve picked up a few of them (on sale) as both RTR and kits. Walthers is selling out the inventory, it seems, and they are typically on sale for pretty good prices for this detail level. Search for “Mather” on the Walthers site and you’ll find them.

Here is a link to a Yahoo group that models 1914 to 1940.
