Anyone on this forum ever written up in Student Fair?

As I read my older MRR I wonder if any of us that have now aged some were ever written up in the old Student Fair column. Progressed beyong the 4x6’ or 8x10’ HO layout. I think they should bring it back to encourage youth participation. Thank, Dave

There was a guy and his wife who recently had an article in one of the magazines about their layout - the Priests I think. Both of them had articles way way back when in Student Fair. I believe Mrs. Priest had actually won the Young Author’s Contest too.

I had a friend when I was a teenager that had a large layout (2 4x8 sheets IIRC) and wrote to tell Andy about it. His comments were published, but within a year he had dropped the hobby and went over to the “dark side” of Dungeons & Dragons, never to return.

I, on the other hand, sometimes thought about writing, but never did, and am still active in the hobby after nearly thirty uninterrupted years.

PS: I believe it was called Student Fare, not Fair. This was probably a play on the word fare that can mean a ticket (as on a passenger train) or an offering of food (in this case, the metaphorical “food” of knowledge and encouragement that Andy offered to younger modelers).
