Anyone with RR tatoos out there?

W’sup. Curious as to if anybody has railroad or railroad related tatoos? Like a locomotive name or symbol or somthing. A whole picture image on your back perhaps? Anyone?

I have a friend who Tatooed the Wisconsin Central Shield on his shoulder. I personally shun tatoos. Confilcts with my squeaky clean image.

funny that you should ask… I’ve been thinking about getting a railroad tattoo for the past year - almost have it designed, just not sure about the pain… maybe a temp tattoo first.

I don’t have any railroad tattoos but I do have four of tattoos. About the pain, I won’t lie, it sometimes friking hurts. Most of the time it felt like an itch that can’t be reached. The worst part is going over a bone and a day after[censored]. I did two on my legs myself so it is tolerable. I’ve never considered a railroad tattoo. Around these here parts I’m a closet railroader. Lot’s of weirdos in the hobby here.[:D][B)]

I spent 20 years in the Navy and I never once considered getting a tattoo. I’m not into pain.

maybe the UP building america Flag and UP sheild, they can charge if they want to i dont mind

The only train related marks on my body are from X-cato knife slips.

… no pain, no train.
( I can handle pain, I just don’t make a habit of seeking it out)
that’s my tattoo thought for the day - so nothing changes yet.
I plan to eliminate my debt, PRIOR to spending any money on a tattoo - so I have probably 2-3 years to consider if this is a serious thought

That´s it !!!

For the price of a nice tatoo Think of what train stuff you could buy?

Same here. But if UP ever gets bought out or merges and the name Union Pacific dissipears I will get a tattoo of the UP shield.

first…getting a tatoo hardly hurts (first hand experiences)

second …getting a tatoo is really stupid (first hand experience)

I have to explain these things on my arms to my young sons

my 2 cents

The thought has occasionally crossed my mind, but as all of the others have said, so far, the disadvantages seem to far outweigh any benefits.

Perhaps there’s something cultural about trains and tattoos that is mutually exclusive.

I do have one of those Xacto scars though. It must be a modeler’s rite of passage. That and getting your fingers or other parts glued togerher with CA.[swg]

I did four years in the Navy and yes…got a tattoo in every port…but now that I’m older and wiser I wish i didn’t get them…the colors fade as time goes on…all they are is a black mark on my body now…it really wasn’t worth it…by the way…I’d be leary of getting a UP emblem tattoo…they may try to sue you for a trademark violation or something…Chuck[:D]

Funny you people should mention X-acto tatoos, as I’ve got a few of those on my fingers in the past few months while scratchbuilding. They never bleed, just leave little cuts in the top layer of the skin. They never hurt, there just annoying. The skin never Heals quite right either, so it looks funny.

The thought of getting a tattoo has never crossed my mind - until today. After reading this topic, the thought started to cross my mind, but was suddenly run over by a fast moving “Common Sense” train (of thought). [:D][;)]

Ouch!

Noah, you are only supposed to get ONE!!! After that you should know to be more careful.

Dummy me, was holding a piece of wood siding on the edge of the table, and pressing down hard. Of course I had just put in a new blade, when the knife slipped off the work and sliced my thumb. Boy did it bleed. I’ve done other stupid things, and witnessed other people doing worse.[B)]

No railroad tattoos for me – I’m too old. Pretty soon what started out as N scale tats would be HO and heading for O.

Ask some “women” that question. They all seem to have them now!
