Has anyone heard when, if ever, these will be in stock again. I have searched net wide and found none.
modeltrainstuff.com got them last week. I’ve already received a shipment.
Thanks. I am looking for Atlas #6. They have some high end switches at the site. But, too rich for my blood. I looked at Modeltrainstuff, Caboose, Trainworld and others. No luck.
Jerry,That was last week…They’re sold out…
Walthers just wrapped up their annual track sale so their inventory is probably a little thin… What brand are you looking for? I just bought several Shinohara c83s from Mainline Hobby…
[edit, Oh I see in your second posting, Atlas]

Currently there are 4 listings for Atlas Code 83 #6 Turnouts for sale on Ebay. There are two listings on auction format, one each right & left. There are also two listings on Buy It Now format for bundles of 6 each, right & left. Go to Ebay HO Scale, select “track & accessories” from the categories on the left, then type “Atlas Code 83 #6 Turnout” in the search box & you should turn them up.

Just buy Peco turnouts. That’s what I did when I could no longer find Atlas. By time that Atlas turnouts once again become available, if ever, we’ll all be dead. [+o(]
Peco costs more than Atlas, but they are far better in terms of quality and reliability, and the Peco footprint is 3 inches shorter than Atlas, a real space saver. [Y]

Thanks for your post. I did look on Ebay and they have one here, and another there. I need a total of ten turnouts.
I am about to go Peco. But , I need 10 turnouts and I cringe at the cost.
I hear ya, but nowadays, we all cringe at the cost of everything. Even 10 Atlas turnouts, if you could find them, would not be cheap. I wonder if you buy 10 Peco turnouts at one time if you could negotiate a further discount?
Rich
The two Ebay BUY It Now listings are for 6 each. One listing for 6 right hand and one listing for 6 left hand. Both are priced for $90. each bundle of 6. That’s well below MSRP and about as cheap as youre ever going to find them. That’s $180. for a dozen brand new in pkg. #6 turnouts! If you need a total of 10, you can’t lose for that price.

What about building your own turnouts using a paper turnout template, PCB ties, wood ties, rails and turnout parts?.
I have built some without using FT jigs.

Cherry Creek Hobbies in Torrington, Wyoming, has Peco code 83 turnouts for $22 or $23 each, depending on size.
By the time Atlas ever become available again they’re likely to be much more than that.
I finally gave up on Atlas. I have been working on my layout for several months and every time I need something Atlas is out of stock. For the price I ordered from Cherry Creek. Peco is superior.
Trainworld just sent me an e-mail this morning, saying they have lots of track in all sizes.
Maybe so, but what brand? Bachmann, Kato, Shinohara, Walthers, maybe. Atlas, probably none.
I was in a hobby shop in Phoneix, Arizona last week and they had lots of Bachmann EZ track, Kato track, and Peco, but NO Atlas.
Hyperbole much? Since Atlas Code 83 parts have come in and sold out at least twice since the problems began, your statement does not make sense. Eventually Atlas will catch up with demand, although many customers will move on, naturally. So unless you have been told you have only months to live, there will be plenty more for sale “before you die”.
To the original poster, just buy PECO and move on. The difference in street price is maybe 150 bucks for ten.
I must be living right. I had an Atlas #6 that needed replacing. My usual LHS was out, and they didn’t know when Atlas would begin shipping again, so I thought about going with Peco, only they’d have to order one. I have a couple of their curved turnouts and they are pricier than the Atlas, but they are quit a bit more robust. I checked the yellow pages, and found ONE store in the Kansas City metro area that had the Peco turnout that I wanted in stock. I scampered down and picked it up. I still have the other on order to keep as a spare.
And I’d add pretty much everything Rich said.
When will Code 83 (or 70, or 55, or 40, or whatever) be available?
Whenever I decide I need one (or two, or ten, or a puzzle palace of slip switches.)
Why am I so sure?
Well, there are yards of stick rail (in all the sizes I expect to use) on my layout room shelf, right next to the medium balsa that I cut up for switch ties and the jarful of microspikes. The rail nippers, flat file, soldering gun, solder and flux are in their usual locations. The two three point gauges are on the cutting board next to the Zona saw, and the NMRA gauge is in - my wallet!
The best thing about hand laying specialwork is that the items I need are NEVER out of stock…

I just talked to the owner of a hooby store and he told me Atlas has changed manufacturers and it is not going well. Their old supplier was going to increase cost by 40%, so they had no option really.Meanwhile, they are losing business. I just gave up today and bought 12 Peco turnouts. I know they are better, but I hate paying the price.
