as per other posts you may have seen me make here, I “acquired” an N Scale layout from a deceased estate of a club member. This is a 12’ x 3’ layout, very well done, with around 20 turnouts. Now, based upon what I can find out, they are Atlas Snaps
This, in itself, then raises questions. Since the layout was DC, conversion to DCC isnt so terrible based on the fact theres no reversing sections, so only the turnouts become a question. I see that the frog is unpowered plastic…potentially a good sign for DCC…but is there any other “look out fors” or mods that I have to take into account before I start heavily laying my Rail A and Rail B power connections?
This track is all beautifully laid and it would tear me apart to have to pull it up. Any tips yall can give me would be greatly appreciated, up to and including replacing those flimsy atlas turnout motors, with emphasis, really, on leaving the track in place where ever possible.
