Are these Hudsons a deal?

I just got an email from Trainworld (from whom I’ve never purchases anything…yet). They are listing BLI Hudsons for $129 with sound. This seems really cheap to me and I’m wondering from those of you with experience with Trainworld whether there might be something amiss here (i.e. used engines, factory refurbs or something else wrong with them).

Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks,

EdW

I trust anything Trainworld sells. Thes seem to be nothing more than too many in the warehouse (which is why you can also buy P2K diesels from them for as little as $29.99!)

Discounthobbywarehouse has the light Mikes @ 139,-- - I´m looking forward to receiving mine. Although a Hudson would be neat, too.

I picked up the light mike also for 139, but did not realize the hudsons were being blown out on a fire sale. This is all dealers as I purchased my Mike from another discount place.

It might indicate a summer sale at BLI to raise money and get rid of inventory again.

The last TW firesale I picked up the GG1 for $120 .00 + $8.00.

I will wait for a diesel sale.

I checked the Trainworld page and the Hudson listed is the BLI 001 stock number. That is the first engine that BLI imported and these are limited to the stock on hand at Trainworld. All of the more recent ones are in the BLI 060 range.

It is a good model from all reports, but the upgraded model with nickel plated drivers is a better overall model.
Most of the owners of the first model are happy, but be advised it is the first engine from BLI and might give problems with electrical contact. i watched them run when they were new, and they were impressive then.

The mikes that are on sale are new.

I had one of the older, original models #001 for more than a year and had no problems with it at all. I only did the trade-in because it sounded like a good deal to me to get a brand new loco for a trade in and 99.00. I would have been just as happy to keep the original one.

I believe we all consider them a great deal. The other forums are talking about them also and some have described their older models and they seem to be good overall.

Trainworld seems to be the only one offering the Hudson for this price, unlike the light mike which has been offered by several outlets, and when the hudsons are gone, they will be gone.

I had one of the first one’s, It ran good but I still sent for the upgraded model. Sound is a little clearer and front truck has a spring on it , so it tracks a little better. For that price it sounds like a good deal.

The Trainworld Hudsons are supposedly the latest upgraded versions. The ad says 001 but when you ask for the specific model numbers available it’s the 060 series of BLI numbers.
