Art's C&O layout Photo Intense

After working all year we finally got to run trains last night

It was a tune up for the SP people that will be visiting Thursday night

The scenery from where Art is sitting down to where it ends was all done

in the last year along with some of the buildings at Thurmond

Andrew sitting at the control pannel at Thurmond

Going around the layout this is Hawks Nest on the inside of the loop is a reversing loop

The upper level main lines

Lower level hidden staging

Helix with a reversing loop

Hidden incline for the mainlines

After A year it must have felt pretty good finaly make a complete circuit with a running train. Very impressive layout and craftmanship so far. Keep up the good work. Just think, now comes the hard part…Detail!

Glenn

Looks great so far. I bet you run trains more then you build scenery now, lol.

Terry,

Looks like great fun. Congrats on the accomplishment.

Bow Down

What is the size of the room? How many of you have been working on the layout? Did you use a particular software to design it?

Sue

Great looking layout so far!..Thanks for sharing.[tup]

Sue thanks !

The room is 20x30

With over 200 ft of hand laid code 83 rail and turnouts

THe branch lines are code 70

Art used the CAD system at his work place for the drawings “shhh”

He and Andrew have done most of the work

Bench work construction started in 1999

I just help out once in a while planting trees

Looks great!..so when do you invite me over to run the trains?..chuck in Crosby, TX…

Holy cow! I can just imagine how much fun it must have been landscaping that mountainside. [:)] At least he’ll have some thing to keep him busy for the next twenty years or so. Pretty darned impressive.

Chuck

Art’s layout is on the tour same day as mine

Nov 18th

Please come over and indroduce your self

After seeing his you won’t want to see mine

But your always welcome to run trains at my place !

Actually Dave after we run on Thursday we’ll probably tear out the hidden staging

part to install a ladder track.

That is of course if the slow container ship from China ever gets here with it’s load of Shinohara
