Are these still owned, or leased, by Arizona & California? A few years ago I traced them on BNSF and they showed none on the system. Unless that was a coincidence, I am guessing that they are no longer ARZC cars.

I’m pretty sure they went back to their lessor, Eric. Can’t look them up right now, but I suspect that they were relettered NOKL and renumbered. Will have an answer for you sometime next week.

I show ARZC 100000-100024 becoming NOKL 210000-210024 in late 1998 (that sounds early to me, but that’s what it says!). They’re now leased to the Iowa Interstate Railroad.

Thanks, Carl. I had no idea that they left that soon. It seems like it was 1993 when they got them, that means that they have been gone longer than ARZC had them. I wonder if the sudan grass went back to truck or if ARZC figured it would be cheaper to use pooled equipment.
