AT&SF 3751 Model Rebuild

Okay, I’ve been looking for some replacement parts for an ATSF 3751 model I’m trying to rebuild. Specifically a Smokebox front in the 89 1/4 inch diameter ATSF style, and a new Trailing truck so I can fit the frame sections throught the wheels to make it like the real 3751.

Thanks,

Logan Thurman

You might want to mention more information about the model you have. For those who are not familiar with 3751, it is a 4-8-4 Northern built in 1927 by Baldwin and restored by the San Bernardino Historical Society in the early 1990s and is operated several times a year.

The model is available in both O and HO scales. Lionel and Broadway Limited are two companies which made the model. I think there might be others also. Pacific Fast Mail had some but I’m not sure if they are different than the Broadway Limited version.

I would like to recommend the March 2007 edition of Model Railroader magazine, in case you don’t already have a copy. In it, you will find an extensive article on upgrading and superdetailing a Broadway Limited ATSF 3751 class 4-8-4.

Hope this helps, John.

It’s a Broadway Limited model from the 2005 release.

Do you guys happen to know of anyone who can model a new custom chassis and get it sent to Shapeways to be made into a plastic model?

Has BLI announced a new run of 4-8-4’s yet?, perhaps #3751 could be updated and released with new features.

no and they aren’t planning to. But they’re working on my model request the NP A-3/SP&S E-1 4-8-4s.
