ATCHISON, TOPEKA & SANTA FE M.177 MOTORCAR

ATCHISON, TOPEKA & SANTA FE M.177 MOTORCAR

Does anyone manufacture this car?

What scale?

HO

Bachmann used to make a Santa Fe doodlebug. Not exactly sure if multiple road numbers were offered, but I have #131 painted in the standard green scheme. I also have the, incorrect for this model of doodlebug, red warbonnet #189.

I went to the Bachmann website and could not find them, so it must be out of production. The model isn’t 100% correct for the Santa Fe, but the green version is not too far off. Here is one I found on eBay:

Bachmann HO Doodlebug

Several brass models of Santa Fe doodlebugs have been offered over the years, and maybe even #177.

Bachmann also used to make an N scale version of their HO doodlebug. I found one that sold on eBay:

MTH made a nice looking Santa Fe doodle bug a few years ago. I have one (#131 again) and it runs well and the sounds are pretty decent too. Not exactly right for a Santa Fe doodlebug, but like the Bachmann version, not all that bad.

Here’s what it looks like:

Aristo Craft also makes a Santa Fe doodle bug. It is not very close in appearance to a real one though. Here’s what it looks like:

Thanks

Need N gauge

I’m in the process of building a new layout in N Gauge. It has been 30 years since my Lionel days and HO.

I live in Lyons Kansas and planning on modeling this town as a start and going from there. I have done some research and looking to model the post war thourgh about 1965.

Any Suggestions??

I have a Bachmann Doodlebug I won on E-Bay.

I have it on my N-scale layout. It’s an M.177.

There is an actual one at Travel Town at Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
