Hello everybody I have loved TRAINS Magazine since I was born, and I noticed in the June 2007 issue they had an article about ATCS (Advanced Train Control System). I wanted to try this so that I could enjoy railroad without whinning about where the next train is. I have been on the website for this system, but it does not tell me where I buy, or download it. If you guys have ATCS I would love to here how you got it on your computer and where you went to download or bought it at. Thank You, and happy railroading.

First thing you’ll have to do is join the ATCS Monitor Yahoo Group. Once you’re a member you’ll have access to the installation program as well the necessary data files and server information.

There was quite a discussion on this a few weeks ago,I checked back and found it on pg 7…You might want to read the 2 pgs that were posted about it…Enjoy you new hobby

Congratulations.

Step 1: Install the program. Make sure you store it in your program files on either your C: or D: drive.

  1. Go to the ATCS Monitor yahoo group main page and click on files>data files>go through the list and find the division that you want>go through the list and find the subdivision that you want. Once you’ve found the .zip file, save it to your desktop.

  2. Now, go to your desktop and open it if it doesn’t open automatically. When it’s open you’ll want to select “extract all fles”. The extraction wizard should open. It will ask you to select a folder to extract all files to. Browse your computer and find the “ATCS Monitor” folder that you created in: my computer>(C:) or (D:) which ever drive you created it in>program files>ATCS Monitor. Click “finish”. Once that’s done, the ATCS Monitor folder shoud be open. click and drag the .mcp files into the “mcp” folder and the .lay files into the "layout folder.

  3. Open the ATCS Monitor program. You then import the mcp files by clicking: configure>mcp information. Click: import and browse your computer to find the .mcp file you stored.

  4. Go back to the yahoo main page and click: Database>ATCS Servers>scroll through the list and find the server covering the area you’re interested in. Once you’ve found it, copy the MCP the appropriate info in the column under the heading “Address:Port information”.

  5. Go back to the ATCS Monitor program. Click Configure>Options>Data Source>Add. A new window will open. Paste what you copied in step 5 (IP Address:Port) into the top line. Cut the :#### part off and paste just the #### into the next line and check “Enabled”. Now in the center of the Options>Data Source window under “Network Settings”, check the appropriate IP Address. Make sure you select “Network Connection” at the top of the Data Source section of the Options window.
