Does anyone here know if/when Athearn plans on doing any GP’s in their Genesis line? I sent them an email about it a while back, but got no response. Just wondering if anyone’s heard anything come out of the rumor mill.
Jason,There is a GP15 on the way with road specific details.
Some wishful thinking several guys I know would like a Genesies GP9…
Nice. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. GP15’s would be perfect for my shortline.
I hope to see the ones frisco ordered in the original BN paint with the diagonal nose stripes.
That’d be nice to see a geneisis GP7 or 9. Seeing that genesis was good enough to put ligthed beacons on the F45s, maybe we’ll see BN with mars lights and/or beacons.
We need more modern GPs in the Genesis line.
High quality and excellent running GP7s and 9s are well taken care of by Proto 2000 (now Walthers).
Athearn showed a Frisco version of the GP15 at the Hartford Show, that has the Pyle Gyralite notch- not sure how these were delivered - orange and white or BN colors - anyway, expect them to have operating Gyralite on at least one version of this.

All of the quality GP7’s and GP9’s are high hood.
A chopped nose Santa Fe GP7; original cab and Topeka cab versions, would be nice…
No they are not well taken care of. Life-Like was slow in releasing new road names and numbers and Walthers is even worse.
If Athearn made GP7s and GP9s with scale width hoods they would sell like crazy, especially with multitude of road names they offer. Athearn is far better with new locomotive production runs than Walthers.
GP15? How many railways had GP15s? I can’t think of very many. Almost every major railway had GP7s or GP9s.
True Tin Can. The Santa Fe’s Cleburne Shops rebuilt that roads GP7s and GP9s. Cleburne came in second in numbers of old Geeps rebuilt. The Paducah Shops rebuilt about twice as many GP7s, GP9s, and even some GP18s for IC, ICG, and a host of other roads. Both the Cleburne and Paducah Geeps need to be represented with a new Genesis quality plastic HO model IMHO.

Athearn will make HO Genesis GP7 and GP9 locomotives. It will be release in 2011.
Please see the latest MR Express.
