This model is a definite plus for SP fans.
AWESOME
On October 21 Athearn issued a statement saying that certain dimensional inaccuracies would be corrected. This will affect the locos announced but not yet produced: ATSF GP7’s and B&M, NKP and NYC GP9’s, plus those produced after them. No mention was made of doing anything for those who bought the PRR GP7’s and the SAL, SP and UP GP9’s that have the inaccuracies.

Too bad I don’t model the Southern Pacific. I could make an exception, though.

I have ordered two of these GP9s for my 1960s layout. T hanks for the review.
Hope they do an SD-9 in the Black Widow livery next. That would thrill the SP modeling community right down to the ground!

Great review and appreciate the honesty about dimensional discrepancies. Hopefully these will be corrected. Sure hope Athearn does a Central Vermont freight and passenger versionof this locomotive.
