How do you guys feel the RTR run compared to the genesis… i have lots of the genesis 70 macs and i love them, but dont have any RTR just the old blue box versions. im going to super deatil and weather the genesis models, just wondering if i should wait for the tunnel motors to come out in genesis or just get the RTR and do the same to them… Thanks in advance… stecz
I have an RTR GP38-2 and it looks really good if you add the detail kit. Make no mistake, adding the detail kit isn’t slapping a few parts on as you will find when you’re on the eighth lift ring. [:)] If you’re willing to do the work, I think you can make one look as good as a Genesis. However, it’s still a BB locomotive under that pretty shell. That’s not a bad thing to me as they’ve improved the gearing and it runs very well, if a little noisy. I think they may have finally gone to real headlights on the RTR’s but mine still has the crew-frying giant bulb, which is another detail I have to correct. So, if you have more time than money, the RTR’s can be a good looking and good running locomotive. If it’s more money than time, I’d go for the Genesis.
