My question is this, since I do not own any of these units as of yet, I am wondering what frame they are using to model these units? are they using the f45 frame or the sd45 frame? I have seen some shells for the sd60 on ebay, and am in the process of updating my fleet, and am wondering if the are using the Rail power sd60 shell ona sd45 frame? any info is someone that owns one of these units could let me know. Thanks Jon
I own a Spectrum SD45 an a P2k SD50, and well since you don’t own a SD50/60 and from reading what you posted, you own a SD45 underframe, the SD50/60 shell is much longer than the SD45 frame.
I have an old Athearn BB F45 but it is not with me.
The P2k SD50 and SD60 are very nice, you should consider them, although the price goes for $50 on eBay. But I guess you are just looking for shells?
A SD50/60 frame
No
No.
RPP offered a SD60 frame, PPW may still have some of those.
Thanks for the input hsin86, I have heard alot of good things about the proto units. I am actually looking for the whole unit, not just the shells.
Thanks for the info also nfmisso, I have not seen one up close yet, so i was not sure. I was just wondering, Athearn does not list a replacement frame in their parts listing for this frame. That is why I was wondering if they where cheating and using a SD-45 frame, and just replacing the shell with a SD-50 or SD-60 shell. Thanks again for the info guys.
