atlas drive belts

I am in need of drive belts for the HO scale motorized turntable #301. This turntable only has 11 indexed slots and the motor drive uses two belts. Everyone I ask, including Atlas, keep trying to suggest the belts for a 304, which I am sure are larger. If someone could just tell me what size these belts are suppoed to be it would really help. They’re just small rubber bands, but all the small ones I find aren’t the right size. I have a couple pkgs. of Athearn drive belts for their Hustler, but I’d have to know if they’re the right size before I put them on and burn out my motor. Thanks in advance to everyone. BILL

I have both of these turntables and the motor kits. The older one with the 30-degree indexing is something I’ve had since I was a kid in the 1960s, but as far as I can tell, it’s dimensionally identical to the current model. I think the folks at Atlas are right - they haven’t changed the design. What has changed is the internal “Geneva” drive used for the indexing system, but the motor and gears are exactly the same.

50 years back, I used to replace my broken turntable belts with Athearn belts from my engines. I’m sure those would still work, too.

If you have trouble getting the belts, you could try a “decent” hardware store and see if the various assorted “O” rings will work for you. Plumbing, automotive and pool equip suppliers would also have quite a selection.

Thank you for your replies. I feel confident in using the Athearn drive belts I have now that someone has actually used them before. BILL
