Atlas NJT GP40-2 HO

Hi all. I recently pre-orded a Atlas NJT GP40-2 with DCC and sound in it. I just have one question, are the sounds and details like the K5LA going to be correct on the engine? I know it hasn’t came out yet, but I would have really liked to know those details before I ordered it.[(-D]

I didnt know they were even doing a NJT paint scheme? No idea on the horn but thanks for letting me know!

Only way to find out is listen to it for yourself. If you ask Atlas of course they are going to tell you yes. Not trying to be a wise guy but how are you or anyone else going to know? Maybe I can run down to Bayhead with a tape recorder for you…[swg]

The only one I can truly hear a distinct difference between it and everything else with my tin ear is an Alco RS 3 cause their really cool

Usually they use one sound file for the whole batch of engines.

The UP SD24 I had, and the ATSF SD24s some people I know have have the same sounds for everything. Atlas uses QSI, and they offer upgrade chips that do allow you to change the sounds.

That might be the one thing MRC did right with factory-installed sound decoders, give you a choice of horns, bells and other sound effects in the model.

True… That chip might be what Im having to do. All we can do is hope for the best with it.[:)]

http://www.atlasrr.com/HOLoco/hogp38406.htm GP40 @Atlas to be exact, 4300-4303 series (non-revenue! no HEP!), elsewhere these are tagged as GP40-2. Hence maybe the confusion?
