Anybody know why Atlas is delayed shipping track age. I ordered switches from local hobby shop 5 months ago. Wrote to Atlas twice, no response.

Our LHS has been plagued, no pun intended, with never-ending backorders on the most common items, like wheel sets. The pandemic has apparently disrupted many of the supply chains.

Track availablity comes and goes over the years.
There is a shipping log jam on the west coast
What happens in China, before any of it gets shipped here is beyond my pay grade.
Apparenlty. I noticed Peco and Atlas flex track has been out of stock for a while, as well as the popular sizes of ME. There is Walthers, Lifelike and Lionel HO flex however.
Also, oddly there are 91 RH Atlas code 83 #6 in stock but zero LH of the Atlas code 83 #6
I was scared that this would happen, and about a year ago I ordered my lifetime supply of Atlas track from Model Train Stuff.
I am glad I did that.

Oh, c’mon, Kevin, don’t leave us hanging. How much Atlas flex track is a lifetime supply?
By the way, I just ordered five 36" lengths on eBay, and it enroute to my home.
Rich
I pulled out the invoice from Model Train Stuff.
I bought:
40 sections of code 83 brown tie flex
6 packs of 24 inch radius code 83 curves
6 packs of 22 inch radius code 83 curves
3 packs of 18 inch radius code 83 curves
2 packs of code 83 straight track short piece assortment
That should be enough for my final home layout and my sectional show layout.
-Kevin
Well, even when it was made in New Jersey, there were times when it was out of stock.
I don’t have my “life time supply”, but I have least 700 or 800 feet to get the new layout started.
And just a few weeks ago full cases were available on Ebay at good prices.
Sheldon
I would imagine your lifetime supplies would be worlds different than mine!
-Kevin
Trainworld is showing an expected date of arrival of some turnouts on 8/31 Most other sectional rail seem to be in stock.
A really rough estimate for the new layout is about 1600’, so I might have about half of what I need.
Another 3 or 4 cases should cover it.
Sheldon
I can’t even imagine building a personal layout with that much trackage.
-Kevin
Remember, a lot of it is just staging tracks - 25 hidden staging tracks, 25 feet long allowing for yard leads is 625’ of track, over 1/3rd of the total.
Sheldon
Not just Atlas, I ordered a bunch of turnouts from Walthers back in June, and just received them last week.
FWIW why Walthers? My hobby store is part of a train museum and they offer members a discount on Walthers catalog products.
Jim
Not with Atlas but i got 4 number 8 curved Shinohara turnouts and 4 number 10 straight ones. I don’t need them right now but I have a suspicion they will either never return or will be a long time doing so.
