Atlas Train Master (GOLD SERIES)

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THEIR OPINION OF THIS LOCO? RE: Pulling power, sound quality and anything else you can think of. I’m thinking of buying a pair.

Thanks B

The fellow who does my decoder installations has one. He likes it very much. Says it is a real draft horse on the track.

Great runner, great detail…but a horrible Wabco horn…

If you are modeling CP, the horn is just horrible.

My opinion is that Atlas is the top-of-the-line on all counts you mention. I’ve ordered two of the Trainmasters.

Let’s just say that there is nothing wrong with these units. I plan a few orders myself… but first things first. I would have had a batch of these but wanted to finish the steam side first.

I have two VGN models - very pleased.

I’ve got 2 from the first batch - SP black widow. They are excellent machines, but I had to replace the airhorns to a more accurate 5-chime one, and place proper SP numberboards on the front end. I am also awaiting the upgraded QSI chip (when released) to give better DCC control, and also replicate accurately the sound of the SP horn - presently, it’s a monotone one, and not prototypical for the SP. But I would still wholly recommend them as a first-class bit of gear.
