Atlas train master gold

Run, look`s and sound? Good or bad?
Comparing to BLI?

swedtrain

it is excellent.

BLI does not currently offer any FM models, so no comparison possible.

That’s good news. I have two Atlas Gold SD-24’s on order and hopefully they will be the same. Do you know if they are still on schedule of an Oct delivery? I just received word that my BLI Southern E7’s will be delayed by months. I’m so p___ed off that I may cancel my order.

Run? It’s an Atlas. Atlas is KNOWN for their smooth running mechanisms.

Sound? It’s basically the same Quantum sound from QSI as used by BLI and Lionel and now Life-Like. You cna hear a sound clip on Atlas’ web site, although it has the wrong horn. The production models DO have the correct horn (except for one road which DID have a multi-chime horn. Dunno if the Atlas model for that road has the proper horn. Most TM’s had a single note honker)

the new Altas TM is great.Runs great just like all Altas engine I have over 60 of them beginning with there first one and never lost one yet.The sound on this one is great too

Hrm, must be SP. They had P5’s on for every locomotive in the passenger fleet and all TM’s were in that catigory.

Does anyone using CVP EasyDCC have any problems programming these?

I have CVP’s Easy DCC and have had no problems programming any Broadway Limited or Lionel HO locomotives with QSI systems in them. In fact, I have used Easy DCC to program QSI systems for other people who could not do so on their systems.

How do the Dash 8’s sound?

Thanks for all info. I have order one SP Black widow so I hope it have the right P5 horn.

Atlas train master gold is my favorite loco. You can’t beat it for the price.

I have the PRR version of the Atlas HO Trainmaster and find it is a great model. I like the details and the sound system. I especially like the RTC feature was does not appear to be present in my BLI engines with the exception of the first run Hudson. I believe the PRR Trainmasters, when delivered, had horns as on the model but that later on those horns were replaced with a cab roof mounted multi -chime horm. In any event, I am glad that the horn sound on the model matches the horn detail on the model. I note that my model does not have windshield wipers although the specification on the Atlas website indicates that wipers are included. Am I missing something? Does anyone have wipers that were included with their model?

No wipers on SP Black widow. No one included but I it´s a great model anyway.
Atlas should fix there advertising “-Separately-installed scale windshield wipers” they say.
Look it on the bright side, “it never rains in southern california” or on your model railroad…

Swedtrain

Atlas have not only forget to put the windshield wipers on they have forget to make them!
There are no wiper in the Trainmaster partslist.

Which ones are the analog dash 8Ws?

I did a little more research and discovered that the PRR Train Masters were apparently delivered with three chime horns on the long hood roof just in front of the cab and not single chimes as I first thought. I also think that the headlight placement on both the long and short hood is not quite correct. Looking at pictures of the prototype it seems that the long hood headlight should be a little higher than it is and the short hood light should be a little lower (to clear the train phone appliance). The rain gutters on the cab roof are missing. The short hood has the steam generator recesses but the PRR prototype was not equiped with a steam generator.Otherwise the detail on the model seems to me to be extremely accurate. The model runs beautifully and sounds great, and it has tremendous pulling power. I’m really happy with it.

Atlas have taken away there web advertising “-Separately-installed scale windshield wipers”. Thats good.
