Atlas True Track

If I use an Atlas true track remote switch and left the 1/3 adapter off of the switch, and used the switch to move locomotives from one line to next line via another switch with a straight piece in between, will all large locomotives recommended for a 22" radius run through the switch without derailing? Anyone have experience with this?

Not with the particular locos you describe, but I use Atlas Snap track (same geometry) and have created a cross-over at one point. My steamers and rolling stock all run through without a problem. I think I have a 1.5" or 2" piece between them. My biggest steamer is a Pacific (IHC/Mehano) and it goes through with all my rolling stock in tow (biggest is heavyweight passenger cars - 70’+ long).

An Atlas True Track switch, like an Atlas Snap Switch, has an 18" radius curve through its diverging route. Using a straight piece of track between the 2 switches in a crossover, rather than using the 1/3 curved track pieces that come with the switches, will reduce the severety of the “S” curve between the 2 switches, but won’t affect the sharp 18" radius of the switches themselves. If your engines truly won’t take less than 22" radius curves, you’ve still got a problem.
