Austin TX to Galveston TX

Going there shortly. Anybody have some good hot spots to rail fan along the way between these 2 cities? Smile

Houston…Wayside drive at Liberty road, the Englewood hump and almost all of the north side of Englewood yard is visable, and it is the intersection of the Lafayette sub, Houston East Belt…Settagast yard is a block north, steady traffic and Amtrack.

Flatonia, on IH10…city built train watching pavillion with two lines meeting at a diamond, and a UP yard just west of the spot…

Old Galveston causeway, former Santa Fe onto the island, with a drawbridge…leading to the Galveston Warves…acres of hoppers!

PTRA North Yard, visable from Wayside drive…or if you show up Sat thru Wed…between 6:30am and noonish, in front of the tower/locker room, I will be switching the lead…happy to give you the dime tour.

Thanks a lot for ur assistance.

I have already hit Flatonia twice & I will be there again in April for there rail fan gathering then.

Thank U for the offer & I would really love to take you up on ur offer but we are leaving on a cruise from Galveston on Sat & it returns Thurs. Bad timing but maybe some day I will decide to make the 170 mile trek during your work days & will then check in with you again.
