Avery, Idaho. P48 layout

This has been a very long time coming and it is finally going to happen. About a year ago i purchased a house with a 23’x33’ basement. Stairs going right down the center and i am now going to breakground this month on the layout. Bench work will be baltic birch, with a homasot layer for the road bed. This will be based on Milwaukee roads western most half of the rocky mountain division, focusing primarily on Avery, Idaho in 1971. I want to make this as life like as possible and will be running 90" curves for most of the layout. #8 mainline tuenouts with 2 #11 curved turnouts. I will keep posted on progress to come.

Ah, the Saint Joe river… Great fishing. I went there a few years ago. Looks like a good area to model. When I was there, the only building was the white one in the photo!

It truly is a sad story. It’s unfortunate that more couldn’t have been saved. It’s hard to believe that a railroad even passed through there at one time. I guess modeling was invented to relive those stories! [Y]

The complete drawing Room #1 (Top) will be the Yard as it sits. Room #2 (bottom) will be strictly scenery and relaxing room for all the visitors. this will include a scene of one of many bridges the Milwaukee used to span the many rivers, creeks and roads. Hopefully this will make for a very photogenic section.

I have many updates as far as the layout is coming along.

I have a facebook page dedicated to the creation of this.
