B&M T1 Berkshire Plans

Hi Folks,

I build fully animated virtual steam locomotives and Ive been looking for plans or erector drawings for a B&M T1 for quite some time. At a bare minimum - I need some good solid dimensions on the running gear. I’ve seen some truly incredible HO and Proto48 models of same and I was hoping someone could possibly steer me to a good source for the material I need.

Below is an example of my current project - a USRA Mikado - which has the shape just about ready to start applying realistic textures.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Regards,
Scott

[#welcome] to the forums! It looks like your post got lost in the shuffle. I couldn’t find anything on B&M T1s in terms of drawings or specifications, but I was able to find a video of them in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfevrCvX7l4 I don’t know if or how much this will help, but maybe someone with access to more information on these locos will reply.

He’s new; the mods were likely preoccupied with other stuff, perhaps chronic gateway 504 errors.

Scott, your best starting point is probably

https://www.bmrrhs.org/on-line-archives

followed by downloading and printing their finding guide (which is a .doc file, not a Web page, so I’m not linking it directly from here). That would be both a likely place for a ‘repository’ of locomotive drawings or an initial contact to a group of enthusiasts interesting in searching and digitizing archived plans (as has been done for the T1 Trust’s project).

Much of the detail design should be common to the B&A A-1 Berkshires, for which I believe the NYCSHS will have extensive drawing documentation on CD or DVD media.

Hi Folks,

Oh - thanks so much - let me take a look - yeah - think I’ve been in limbo for a while here. I’ve got my Dad’s old MR’s/MRC’s from the 60’s through 80’s in a trunk - honestly - I stopped my subscriptions when it seemed MR moved away from steam and stopped producing the protorype drawings I was so fond of…

Appreciate the help…

Hi Folks,

This is Lee Turner’s absolutely gorgeous Proto48 model that’s my inspiration…Thanks for the video link as well…

Well, you know that Lee is one of the principals on the P:48 Modeler group (it was a Yahoo Group, now gone without trace, and now on the groups.io service) and he would surely have either a trove of information on how to scale this locomotive or knowledge of where you can get what you need.

Start here (and join if you’re not already a member):

Hi Folks,

Thanks so much for the gracious hospitality and help - I’ll run down these leads and see if they amount to anything and let you guys get back to real world modeling…

Just for the record - this is what one of my models looks like with textures - hopefully I’ll be adding a B&M Lima to my collection (my first Baker gear):

Thank You !!!
