So after getting my Bachman set out, a simple 36" circle track, simple grey & red controller (1 output). I decided to expand the set for my boy (I bought a Lionel set for me [;)]) I got a set of tracks off ebay, new ez track, straights, curves, tressel set & 2 sets of remote switches. But no instructions on how to wire up the switches [:(]
They have a long green 3 prong wire, a switch with inputs/outputs on 3 sides, and then green wire attached to the track/switch. I assume the track connects to the ‘front’ of the slide switch, and the sides connect to power/other switches? but can’t seem to figure out how it all goes togather.
I’ll take pics if I need to.
Thanks for any help.
Bryan
If you look at the switch controller you’ll see that one of the connections on it is three prong. The green wire from tyhe turnout connects there. The other two connectors on it are two prong. A red wire (same type that connects to the track) connects here. The other end of the wire connects to the AC terminals on the power pack. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN THE TURNOUTS ON DC. It will burn out the switch machine motor coils. The switch controllers are designed so that they can connect directly to each other with no additional hardware.
Thanks for the fast reply, sorry I had to go to work before I could try it out.
So since I don’t have a 2nd red cable yet, I took the red cable from the transformer to the side of the switch, then the 3 prong on the front of the switch to the track. Nothing happened. The transformer does have AC output, not DC. It’s the output that goes to the terminal track to drive the train, should it work setup like that instead?
Thanks,
Bryan
