bachman

Probably been asked many times before but I could not find any relative search results here…

Does the Spectrum line from bachman only apply to the locos or do they have a higher quality rolling stock line that is also labeled spectrum?

No, Spectrum is Bachmann’s highest quality line. The only rolling stock for Spectrum is their Heavyweight Passenger Cars.

If you do a search, it will work better if you spell the name correctly - Bachmann - two "n"s.

There are no Spectrum line cars in N scale that I know of.

The only Spectrum line of rolling stock from Bachmann are in On30 and Large Scale.

I believe they have two lines of rolling stock in HO. I think the higher quality one is called the Siver Series. They’re still kind of cheap looking.

I recall that about 15 years ago Bachmann Spectrum released a full line of heavyweight passenger cars in HO. I am not sure if that line is still available.

So other than passenger cars, Spectrum is for locos only…from bachmanN?

In HO scale - yes. Trivia Question- What was the first Bachmann Spectrum locomotive and what year did it come out? What was the second?

I believe the first one was the 44 Tonner switcher, which I think was released in '88 or so. The second was the GP30.

The only Spectrum cars I know of in HO are the heavyweight passenger cars.

I believe it was the 2-8-0, released in '88.

followed by the K4.

the diesels were first released in the silver series line, and in the mid-late 90’s re-issued as spectrum

I believe you are right. It was one of the first locomotives my new-to-the-hobby friend ever purchased - It was in 1987. I remember because that is when I was commuting to Omaha for work. We checked out all the “local” hobby stores.

I thought the second one was the K4, but have no facts to back that with. The 2-8-0 was the one that finally got them the recognition that they were serious about the spectrum line.
