I have a serious problem with my bachmann DCC E-Z Command Control Center. Yesterday I was back in the train room, going to run my trains. I had everything plugged in ready to go. I turned the control knob to on for the first train. It sat there about 1-4 minutes before it moved. Once it moved it would run at only 1 speed, I could not control the speed. It also would not stop when I turned the control knob to off. The only way i could stop it was if the emergency red button. My other 2 trains did all the same things. So I unplugged the E-Z controller for several minutes, and I still got the same things happening when I plugged it back in. It’s still under warrenty. So I will have to take it back to the store where I brought it to see if they will do anything about the problem. it has a year warrenty. Any ideas? Thanks
I havent heard of this kind of problem with this unit. I’ve had mine for quite some time without issue.
Have you called or emailed Bachmann? That’s where I would start. How long ago did you purchase it? Unless its relatively new, under 30 days, the store you bought it from is more then likely just going to direct you to bachmann as well.
Good luck and remember to post back your progress and what the final resolution is!
I had the same problem with one a couple of years ago. Since I have several laying around I just tossed it and plugged in another one. Problem solved. I still have one extra as a spare. I gave two others to a couple of friends who were just getting their feet wet in DCC and they thought they were the neatest thing since sliced bread. The only thing I really dislike about it is that it can’t read/program CV’s.
Nemix & Jeffrey: thanks for the input on the DCC Command Control Center. I have to talk to the store, but I tried it again this morning, and same things are going on.
That is bizarre. Trainman, you mentioned that the speed response was affected. Do the light or horn functions not work, as well? If they don’t then it sounds like something fried on the E-Z Command’s circuit board. When did it last work properly?

Tom: I have 3 locos, The 2 w/o sound works after 1-5 minutes they will both start running, but I cannot adjust the speed, or stop them unless i hit the red stop button. The Union Pacific that I have all sounds works fine on that loco. But the same affect with the running and stopping. I have no idea at this point. I am waitng for the store where i brought it to call me back maybe with a answer. If i have to buy a new one, I will buy something else. Any idea on what controller I should buy. I won’t want the E-Z controller again. Thanks
Model Railroading A great way to spend time & have fun.

I got one of those that Jeffery gave away. It has done what you mention a few times, but it has always been dirty track or wheels that caused the problem. A quick wheel/rail cleaning has always fixed the problem. Sounds like you might have a bigger problem though.
digitrax zephyr…
Grabbed mine 6 months after i got the bachman, and I love it. I use te zephyr, and my 4 and 6 year olds use the bachman on their smaller double loop set up.
Trainman,
Sounds like a board issue to me. I had a Bachmann E-Z Command for a year and NEVER had any problems like those mentioned above.
I eventually upgraded to an NCE Power Cab and have been very happy with it. I find it simple in design and very intuitive to use. My suggestion would be to try as many DCC systems as you can to see which one will best fit YOUR own needs.
