Has anyone added extra detailing to the locomotives? and i am also trying to replace the factory side rods with the kind of side rods that were used on the BLI Santa Fe 4-8-4. Does anyone know where i can get those kinds?

I got real excited when I saw the original ads for that loco, but soon realized it was not a Bachmann Spectrum - which is typically a much better loco. Anyway, after looking at it (I was still tempted), I decided it would be more trouble in the long run than it was worth ( I apologize for being negative, for that is not my normal nature ).
Of course you are getting a nice loco for the money, but the Bachmann decoders tend to be lower end, and there isn’t a whole lot you can to to improve operation (imho). Regarding your question, I think you are out of luck.

This is a case of, ‘You get what you pay for.’ There’s probably no way to change the siderods to a different style because it’s unlikely that any other brand would fit.
Andy S had an article on detailing this model - check the index. You can make your own side rods.
How would i remove the molded on pipes? could i use sandpaper?
