Bachmann Train sets

I got a Bauchmann Mckinnley explorer for Christmas and am suprised at the amount of noise this train produces. Is this normal? I have a GP 30 engine that will out run and out pull the Bauchmann. Did I get a pig in the poke? airguy

airguy- Welcome to Trains.com! [C):-)]

Some Bachmann standard line can have noise issues. Go to the Bachmann site. There is a page for exchanging the loco for a new one. Make sure you have the sales receipt info. Parts and Service.

There is also a useful forum. Use the HO forum. I like to go to the source.

This stuff is mass produced in China.

Rich

Whose model trains are not mass produced in China?

[#welcome] to the forms!!!

I would return it to Bachmann. They have great service I hear.

I have several of their locos including GP 35’s, 38-2’s and 40’s. Only one out of my 13 Bachamnn’s makes a low growling sound on startup and slow speeds. the rest are all as quiet as a church mouse. I don’t have a GP30, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all were same/similar drives.

You have been given the link to the Bachmann site for the forums,its a hop skip and jump to the service dept. info, or here:

{I should send my one in too}

Oh…even if it is a pig in a poke…you can roast the pig, invite friends and freeze the leftovers!

Thanks all for the good advice. Will get in touch with Bauchmann. Airguy

I have half a dozen of the newer Bachmann locos. TwoGP30’s, Two GP7’s, a GP38-2 and a GP40. All run well. The only ones that make noise are the GP30’s. They sound like Athearn blue box locos but otherwise run well.
