How much should I pay for the above? Hobby shop is asking 12.00.
Cannot find it on Walthers. I think Bachmann wants 22.00 with a removable coal load. The one I saw I don’t think had a coal load. Hard to tell in the box.
Will have to change the coupler but the wheels appear to be metal.
Do not own any Bachmann and they have a bad rep, but seem to be improving from the comments I have seen lately.
You didn`t mention the type hopper (open or closed) but assuming you mean open Bachmann was supposed to release the 55 ton 2 bay outside braced hoppers in HO scale WITH a load in November, with a MSRP of $22.00 . Your local HS is giving you a 46% discount. The only one I know who COULD possibly be cheaper is Micro Mark. Peach Creek is asking a tad higher than your LHS. I like the Silver series they are nicely lettered and do have metal wheels but have the plastic couplers. These cars are more pricier than their box cars , flat carsw/loads and several other types of cars. I hope this is not going to be something new with them.

I would not pay $22 for a car with plastic wheels. But that is just me. I like the Silver Series… they are a great running car at a price that wont break the bank if you are new to weathering. I dont think I have paid more than $12 online at MB Klein.
12 bucks or a little more is fine for a bachman Silver hopper. I have several Silvers and they’re good runners. The wheels are metal but the couplers are plastic and should be changed.
I think it’sa great price for a Bachmann Silver series car.
Their silver series cars can command quite a bit more than that, depending onthe car, and depending on your dealer…
