Well here I am back in Denver, for thanksgiving this time… last time I was here I made a trip to Caboose Hobbies (70th and Federal Blvd) after all the good things I heard about it here. However I was less than impressed and had the feeling I was at a different store than I had read about, I would like to visit Caboose while I am here and pick up a few things while I browse the selection, could somebody confirm this is the correct store or is there another one here in Denver I should go to.
The store at 74th and Federal is Mizzel’s Trains with their famous “wall of toy trains”. That is their specialty - the toy train market. Caboose Hobbies is 500 South Broadway. It still isn’t as good as it used to be. They used to stock at least one of everything, but the management change about 5 years ago changed that philosophy.
If you take the light rail system, Caboose is at the Alameda Station.
If you are not impressed with Caboose Hobbies and their Super Market version of a train store, then you will be let down by every other store in the nation.
Thanks guys my gf knew exactly where the store was and we found it easily thanks to your help. We spent a couple of hours there ‘browsing’ and I was impressed at the selection and variety, both in scales and products available. I will be visiting the store again on my next visit to Denver in December and I will definately be compiling a list of items to purchase. I made a few small purchases and enjoyed the store and displays very much, my gf and her daughter were also impressed, so thats a good thing.
Have fun & be safe
Karl.
Unfortunately Jeff this is only a brief visit for thanksgiving, then back to Mississippi, maybe we could get together when I come back in December.
Oh man, how I loved visiting that store. Had a ball. I felt like I was walking through a Walther’s Catelog. Even had the great pleasure of meeting Texas Zypher up there. Still get the urge to dance when i think about seeing that huge inventory,
