I love the movie Back To The Future III. Will they ever make a O gauge train set on it??
If they didn’t make one in 1990 when the movie came out, why would they make one now? They didn’t even make one in HO.

I would like to see someone come out with a bullet train. One that uses electomagnets and causes a cushion between the rail and the engine but I can’t figure out how the transformer would get it to go. I can come up with the ideas but need an engineer to put this in motion. This would be pretty cool?

The Back to the Future movies are my absolute favorites of all time, especially part III, but I wouldn’t buy a model of the time train(if that’s what you’re thinking of). The reason being that there’s nothing that goes with it to pull behind it. If you buy that, you’ve basically bought a useless engine that can only be run by itself.
No. It would come with the cars and rolling stock it was pulling before Doc and Marty hijacked it.
If you mean the one that they hijacked to pu***he Delorean, that’s just a run-of-the mill 10 wheeler(4-6-0) pulling some standard era-specific cars. The only thing special about it is the 4 whitewall tires that they mounted on the front, and the multi-colored smoke from Doc’s home-made Presto logs. This engine is wrecked right after the Delorean goes forward to 1988, right into Clayton/Eastwood/Shonash Ravine/
The time train that Doc comes back with at the very end of the movie is a completely separate piece, and one, once again, that would have very limited appeal due to it not having any sort of matching rolling stock.
Roy has a great idea here Colin, if you are handy, and you sound like a smart guy from your posts, hey you got the Jet thing right, make one from scratch.

Although they will not make this either, another train set they missed out on was the circus train from Indiana Jones three.
Young Indy (played by River Phoenix) gets chased though a circus train. I think it was filmed on the Cumbres &Toltec. It was a neat sequence with alot of play value for a potential train set. RMC mag. had an article on modeling it when it came out.
My feeling is that some company, if they really want to reach younger people, should make a train set scaled to fit 3 and 3/4 inch figures like small Gijoe and Star Wars toys. The train does not have to be licenced to be GIJoe or whatever but it should be clear that that is what they are ment for. A licenced toy must be seen as that kind of toy and limits the appeal to kids. It could be narrow gauged the kids wouldn’t care. Three rail is fine it is a “future” train. But it would be great to incorperate the trains with the toys they already play with.

If released around the same time as the film, a BTTF3 o-gauge set might have worked…for sure it’d make a good partner for Lionel’s Phantom![:D]

Lionel had a funky set in the 70’s with a chome engine. I think it was space related. The name was the Laser set. There’s one on the ‘bay’ for $125.00
