Baking Soda

can i use baking soda on a layout, or will it damage paint?
Thanks

I’m assuming that you would be using the baking soda to represent snow. I think I’ve heard of someone doing that for photography purposes and then vacuuming the ‘snow’ off the layout (or diorama) when they finished taking pictures. As long as the baking soda doesn’t get wet and doesn’t get into moving parts, I wouldn’t think it would hurt anything.

I don’t think its a very good idea. I recall a discussion somewhere else that outlined the problems using baking soda. I’ve used cooking flour many times to make my annual Christmas card scene.

im looking for something permanent that can be secured with white glue/water mix.

Baking soda will dissolve when you spray on the water/glue mix, and plain flour will cake up and make a mess, too. Depending on how large an area you want to cover, and whether or not you want it to be permanent, consider plain white plaster mixed watery and poured on.
