Thank you, Gene, I have relatives in Mooresville so definitely want to make that scene!

There was one bit I didn’t understand: Norfolk Southern’s “L and O” lines crossing? Or maybe it’s just general RR talk that I ought to know anyway.

Thanks,

Really nothing there but a railroad diamond crossing, a wye, and a small shanty. I’ve worked Conductor on one of the locals over there running down to Mooresville and North to Clemmons. All ragged 10 mph track. Only thing of interest you might see is the occasional freight on the S line.

Is there alot of movement in the Statesville area. I hear alot on the scanner but don’t know if it is worth a trip.

Barber isn’t that great. The L Line only gets NS train P25 and I don’t think there is a O Line only a S Line. Statesville is a bit rough and normally NS train P61 will hold up most traffic with the switching. The best place you will get near Statesville is Salisbury,NC. Stay at the wye near Henderson Street and you shouldn’t miss a train. Last time I was there I saw about 17 trains in 8 hours or so.
