Bates Motel sign

Anyone know of an HO model of the Bates Motel sign in workable neon?

I’d sure appreciate a contact.

Thanks,

HZ

HZ,

Have You considered making Your own with one of the Electroluminescence sign kits by Miller Eng.? Or even have them build one for You, to Your spec’s. I have 8 different ones on My layout and they really make scenes pop out at You. I have not attempted to make My own yet, but I do see a possibility soon! A link to where I purchase Mine and also how to go about having one made, if interested:

Or give John a call with the phone number on site and see If He can give You a ball-park figure…He’s a pretty good guy!

Take Care![:D]

I agree with Frank, make your own sign. When you buy a Miller illuminated/animated sign it comes with several different overlays so that you have something to pick from. I made my own overlay to customize the signs. Go through their catalog and pick out a sign close to what you want and make your own Bates Motel overlay, very much like making a decal. I used a sheet of clear transparency film, it comes in inkjet and laser from an office supply store.

I remember an article back in the Olden Days® about lighting up a simulated neon sign by painting over it with invisible fluorescent paint (visible only in the ultraviolet) and illuminating the scene with a small blacklight bulb hidden behind a foreground building. The blacklight would make the letters, painted over with the UV paint, glow. A little while ago I did a search for this paint but couldn’t find it, because I’m not sure what it’s actually called. Maybe someone on here remembers.

I haven’t used UV paint in many years here are two links.

Thanks, Mel! That first link you provided has two of the “invisible” UV paints I was thinking of. One glows blue, one yellow.
